The short version
- You can play without an account. We do not ask for your name, email address or phone number to use the game.
- Your microphone audio never leaves your device. In Open Mic mode, audio is analysed in real time in your browser only to detect when your voice starts. It is not recorded, stored or uploaded.
- Your scores and settings are saved in your own browser's local storage, not on our servers.
- We use Google Analytics and 51.LA to understand how the site is used, and Google AdSense to show ads. These services use cookies or similar technologies, described below.
- Questions or requests: contact@rhymegame.net.
Information we collect
Information stored on your device
To remember your progress, the game saves your stats (runs played, best scores, streaks), your session settings (beat, rhyme scheme, bar count, word display), your chosen mode and your microphone timing offset in your browser's local storage. This data stays on your device. You can delete it at any time by clearing site data for rhymegame.net in your browser settings.
Microphone
Open Mic is optional and only starts after you grant microphone permission in your browser. While a run is active, the game processes the audio stream locally to find the moment your voice begins (voice onset). Raw audio is never saved, replayed, transmitted to us or shared with anyone. You can revoke microphone permission in your browser at any time; Practice mode works without it.
Usage and device information
Like most websites, our hosting and analytics providers automatically receive technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, operating system, referring page, pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP (country or city level), and the time of the visit. We also record anonymous in-game events such as play clicked or game completed so we can see which features are used. We do not collect precise location (GPS) data.
Information you send us
If you email us at contact@rhymegame.net, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to handle your request.
How we use information
- To run the game and remember your settings on your device.
- To measure traffic and understand which pages, beats and features are useful, so we can improve them.
- To keep the site secure and reliable, for example by detecting abuse or errors.
- To show advertising that helps keep Rhyme Game free.
- To respond to messages you send us.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use the microphone for anything other than timing detection.
Advertising and Google AdSense
We use Google AdSense to display ads. Google and its partners may use cookies, web beacons, IP addresses and similar identifiers to serve and measure ads.
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to our users based on their visit to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at www.aboutads.info or, in Europe, www.youronlinechoices.eu.
- If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be based on your interests.
Learn more about how Google uses data from sites that use its services at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, personalised ads are only shown where valid consent has been given, as required by Google's EU User Consent Policy. Otherwise only non-personalised or limited ads are shown. We use Google's certified consent management platform (Google Privacy & messaging) to request that consent. Where a consent message is displayed, you can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the privacy settings link it provides.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google LLC) and 51.LA (a web analytics service) to collect aggregated statistics about visits. These services set cookies or use local storage to distinguish visitors and sessions. They provide us with reports, not with your identity.
You can block analytics cookies in your browser settings, or install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. Blocking them does not affect how the game works.
Data retention
Data in your browser stays until you clear it. Analytics and advertising data are kept by the respective providers according to their own retention settings and policies. Emails you send us are kept only as long as needed to handle your request and for our normal correspondence records, after which they are deleted.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in Europe or the CCPA/CPRA in California), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information for targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information.
Because we do not run user accounts, most data about you is held either on your own device or by the third-party providers listed above, and you can manage it through their controls. For anything else, email contact@rhymegame.net and we will respond within 30 days.
Children's privacy
Rhyme Game is a general-audience website and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy when our practices or the services we use change. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last revised, and significant changes will be highlighted on this page.
